A group of torts recognized collectively as “injurious falsehoods” are often interchangeably called slander of title, disparagement of property, or trade libel. Slander of title is generally defined as the wrongful, intentional and malicious disparagement of vendibility of title to real property. This may involve, for example, the wrongful placement of a lis pendens upon real property.
